In this unit students will learn about not just the many ways that our water can be come polluted and unsafe for human use, they will also learn just how common and worldwide the myriad of water contamination and shortages are. The over arching goal of this unit is to awaken an awareness in our students to the importance of protecting and managing our fresh water resources. The unit will contain an in depth stream study where students will collect data and use that data to determine the water quality and health of that river system. We will also look at the importance of wetlands in keeping our waters clean and how effective land management can go along way towards preventing water pollution issues from occurring.as apposed to responding to an issue once it is already present.
