In this unit students will study three different air pollution issues; Ground Level Ozone, Global Warming and Acid Rain. We will look at the causes, results and some of the solutions for these issues. An emphasis will be placed upon human health impacts and the federal regulations with in the Clean Air Act that apply. As all of the studied pollution types have a major input from the use of fossil fuels in one form or another this unit will end with a quick look at the different alternative energy technologies that are being developed or studied. Students will be challenged to decide for themselves if these different alternatives are promising enough to put research money and effort into developing.
